Full-Spectrum Doula Training
Initial Tuition: $1,500
Your initial tuition covers enrollment in the Full-Spectrum Doula Training Program, course access, course administration, assessment and grading, student records, initial certification processing, and your first three-year program and certification period.
Required textbooks and the hands-on skills workshop are not included in tuition and are paid separately.
Your Initial Three-Year Period
Your initial $1,500 tuition provides three years of program access beginning on the date of enrollment.
Most students should plan for the program to take up to approximately 12 months to complete, depending on their schedule, available study time, completion of assignments, hands-on training, and other certification requirements.
The 12-month estimate is not a course-access deadline.
Students may move through the program more quickly. Students who have the time and ability to work at a faster pace are welcome to do so. Students who need additional time may continue working within their initial three-year enrollment period without paying an additional extension fee.
The initial three-year period begins on the date of enrollment regardless of when certification requirements are completed.
A student who completes certification early will therefore have a longer period of active certification before their first renewal. A student who takes most or all of the initial three years to complete the program will have less time remaining before renewal is required.
Course Completion and Grading
The Full-Spectrum Doula Training Program is designed to provide students with substantial flexibility in completing their education.
Students control the pace at which they study and submit their work. However, completing coursework rapidly does not guarantee immediate grading or certification.
Assignments, assessments, skills documentation, and other submitted work requiring instructor review are evaluated individually. Students should allow reasonable time for grading, feedback, skills verification, and certification processing.
Our instructors are practicing birth professionals in addition to being educators. We do not guarantee expedited grading or individual priority processing based on how quickly a student completes coursework.
Completing assignments rapidly does not waive any academic, practical, or certification requirements.
Hands-On Skills Workshop
Completion of an approved hands-on skills workshop is required for certification.
The hands-on workshop is a separate educational experience and is not included in the $1,500 program tuition. Workshop fees are paid separately and may vary based on location, format, facility expenses, supplies, and other training costs.
Students will receive information about available workshops and scheduling during the program.
Required Textbooks
Required textbooks are purchased separately and are not included in tuition.
Students may purchase required books from the source that works best for them, including new, used, print, or electronic editions when appropriate.
Renewal and Continued Program Access
After the initial three-year enrollment period, participation moves to a two-year renewal cycle.
Renewal Fee: starting at $75 every two years
For students who have completed certification, renewal maintains their current Learn to Doula certification and provides access to the applicable professional and certification-update materials.
For students who have not yet completed the program, renewal extends their program access for an additional two years so they may continue working toward certification.
Students are not required to purchase a completely new enrollment simply because they need additional time to complete the program.
Recertification
Certified graduates renew their Learn to Doula certification every two years after the initial three-year period.
The recertification process is intended to support continued professional competency and keep certified doulas current as evidence, professional standards, regulations, and maternity-care systems evolve.
Recertification may include:

Submission and verification of required continuing education

Credential maintenance and certification records

Review of current professional standards and scope of practice

Completion of required professional or curriculum updates issued during the certification period

Continued competency requirements established by the program

Administrative review and issuance of the renewed credential
Current recertification requirements will be made available to certificants before their renewal date.
Program Completion and Current Certification
Successful completion of the Full-Spectrum Doula Training Program remains part of a graduate’s educational record.
Current certification is different.
To continue representing themselves as a currently certified Learn to Doula professional, graduates must maintain their certification through the applicable renewal process.
This allows Learn to Doula to maintain the integrity of its certification while ensuring graduates have an organized pathway for keeping their professional education current.
Professional Education for a Changing Profession
Doula practice does not stand still.
Evidence changes. Professional standards develop. State requirements and payer systems evolve. Documentation expectations change. New research continues to shape how doulas support pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, infant feeding, bereavement, and families.
Our renewal system is designed to keep professional education current without requiring graduates to repeat their original certification program.
The goal is not simply to certify someone once. It is to prepare doulas for professional practice and provide a practical pathway for maintaining that education throughout their work.
