Our Hearts are with Ukraine.

What can we say that would do justice here?
There really isn’t anything.

When our Advisory Board was with our prior organization we had colleagues, friends, people we held dear to our hearts that were located in Ukraine for many different reasons.

Some were students alongside, some had long since graduated the program and were partners in support of the organization and the peers who were upcoming.

You don’t have to have been a peer, a cohort member, or a mentor to anyone from there to feel grief and hope for the amazing people of Ukraine.

Mattie Marie stands for inclusion, for education, and for support.   We pray for the strength of a thousand Ukrainian Grandmothers for each and every individual caught up in this, and if you feel a desire to help financially we encourage you to donate to Doctors without Borders as they are on the ground and helping within the region.

Coming Soon!

Many organizations require Doulas to take a Childbirth Ed class.  Finding one in person presently is difficult, but we’ll be offering the Childbirth Class for Doulas “test” session in April 2022 to a limited group.  Membership is NOT required to enrolled in this class, but there will be a small fee and include your required digital textbook delivered to your email address.

We will be gearing up to offer our courses delivered online with pre-recorded video and a learning management system this Mid Spring to Early Summer for our other courses and hope to resume in-person hands-on Doula workshops across the US in the coming late Fall of 2022 and beyond.

Las Vegas Workshop Postponed.

Annie Hill, Director of Traditional Birth Studies for Havencraft here…

For those of you who were planning on attending the Las Vegas April 30, May 1 & 2 hands-on workshop offered by Haven Craft and the Mattie Marie Traditional Birth Support Training Program: It has been postponed due to the Covid-19 (just declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization.) We apologize for the inconvenience.

Haven Craft and the Mattie Marie Traditional Birth Support Training Program support the effort to address the spread of COVID-19 and preserve the lives of vulnerable populations.

Mattie Marie Traditional Birth Support Workshop Registrations for all 2020 workshops across the country have been temporarily suspended and we hope to reschedule our Las Vegas workshop to an early November date.

Keep your eyes open for our online system to open up for registrations and we may adapt some of the lecture time from the workshops into an online format.

Wisconson and North Carolina workshops are still pending their June and August dates, but registration is not presently open for those.

I’ve watched as this pandemic has bloomed into it, and not just from mainstream news. Covid 19 being declared a pandemic is not news to me, and I am hoping that resources will be made available that weren’t before. We can contribute to flattening the curve and not overtaxing the healthcare system, so after deliberating with others, I made the call. If you’d like to learn more about flattening the curve and how you can help – go to https://www.flattenthecurve.com/ and see how you can help towards flattening the curve too.

With profound respect for those with all types of immune systems,

New Beginnings!

As of TODAY!!!! January 1, 2020 I step into a new role, I have joined the board of Haven Craft, as the Director of Traditional Birth Studies, and I will become an instructor in their Seminary. Havencraft is an inclusive, interfaith, intersectional, and intercultural nonprofit organization providing education, advocacy, counseling, and assistance during domestic crisis’, and is now based in North Carolina.

I am honored to have been asked to join in this capacity. In the weeks and months ahead we will be enrolling students in the online course component to the program, which will be open to all age 16 and up. The new program is geared to teaching traditional birth attendants how to provide inclusive physical, intellectual, and emotional support as they go through the process of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, as well as providing educational support, bereavement support, and placenta training. Named “Mattie Marie Certification” we will be training traditional birth attendants to support families in all settings and will be conducting hands-on training sessions both at the retreat house/seminary and at other locations nationally/internationally.

More can be found in the days and weeks to come at learntodoula.com – and registration for the Las Vegas workshop will open up as planned on January 15, 2020.

Much love to ALL!
